Privacy Policy.
How GSG Law collects, uses, and protects your personal information.
Our commitment
GSG Law ("the firm", "we") is committed to protecting the privacy of the personal information of our clients, prospective clients, and website visitors. We handle personal information in accordance with British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where applicable, and our professional obligations as lawyers, including solicitor-client privilege and the confidentiality rules of the Law Society of British Columbia.
What we collect
When you contact us through this website, we collect the information you choose to provide: your name, email address, phone number, the general area of your legal matter, and any description you include. If you become a client, we collect further information necessary to provide legal services, perform conflict-of-interest checks, and meet our regulatory obligations.
How we use it
We use the information you provide to respond to your inquiry, check for conflicts of interest, deliver legal services, communicate with you about your matter, and meet legal and regulatory requirements. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
Service providers
Our website is hosted and our contact form is processed by third-party service providers. Information submitted through the form is transmitted and stored securely by those providers for the purpose of delivering it to us. We take reasonable steps to work with reputable providers who maintain appropriate safeguards.
Analytics & cookies
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our website — for example, which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, and general location at the city or regional level. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect this information in aggregate; it does not tell us your identity. This helps us improve the site and our services. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by disabling cookies in your browser settings.
Retention and safeguards
We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described above and as required by our professional and legal obligations. We use reasonable physical, technical, and administrative safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
A note on confidentiality
Submitting the contact form or emailing the firm does not create a solicitor-client relationship. Until we have confirmed in writing that we act for you, please do not send confidential or time-sensitive details about your matter.
Access and questions
You may request access to, or correction of, personal information we hold about you, subject to limits imposed by law and privilege. Questions about this policy can be directed to gursharn@gsglawyers.ca or (778) 262-2835.
